Abstract
There are elaborate stories about Givaka lord Buddha's chief physician and the disciple of Ateya. Shushruta was one of the first to the human anatomy, rhinoplasty and ophthalmialogy. Indian medical tradition also goes back to vedic times when the Ashwini Kumar who were practitioners of medicine were given a divine status. We also have a God of medicine called Dhanvantri.
