Abstract
The traffic on the Indian highways is heterogeneous in nature. Vehicles with widely varying static and dynamic characteristics occupy the common carriageway space. The speed differentials between the vehicles of the same class and different classes significantly contribute to road crashes on the highways. The operating speeds of the different vehicle types vary widely.
