Abstract
Aadhaar is an extremely good initiative by
Government of India for the identification of the
people residing in India. It’s an identity document
that can be used for making other documents related
to identity of the person. Now-a-days it has gone
beyond this point and now it is been included into
public services for the efficient delivery of the
services and to remove the bottlenecks. This research
paper has come up with the problems faced by the
people for linking their aadhaar card with public
services and the possible potential solutions. Lack of
awareness has been observed among the population.
Aadhaar still has a long way to go as still it is in the
incubation stage.
Key Words: Aadhaar Card, Population, Awareness,
Public Services
1. Introduction
Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identity number
provided to every resident of India. It is launched in
2008 and is based on biometric data and demographic
data. Biometric data is about the face, fingerprints
and IRIS of the person whereas the demographic data
is about the Name, Gender, Date of Birth,
Relationship, Mobile Number, Email and Address of
the person. The initial aim of launching this project is
to prove the identity of residents of Indian which was
not very clear earlier. Later this project gained
momentum and then it was thought to link Aadhaar
number to various government schemes to boost
these schemes. Another purpose of this is to provide
benefits to those who deserve because there were
many fake identities who were misusing these
schemes. Aadhaar number is a great initiative of
Government of India as it is removing the fake
identities and ensuring credibility.
What is included in Aadhaar Card:
Biometric data i.e. Face, Finger prints, Retina.
Demographic data i.e. name, Age, Spouse/Husband
Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Mobile Number,
Address.

2. Purpose of Aadhaar Card
The purpose which an Aadhaar Card serves is the
proof of identity. It gives the complete detail of a
person and its residence. It removes duplicity as it is
embedded with unique features of a person like
fingerprints and retina which cannot be duplicated. It
maintains transparency of the data of the resident’s of
India. Aadhaar card is prepared after several
authentication and verification which leads to zero
error in the data base.
3. Literature Review
Knowlton & Whittemore, 2008 in their study
suggested that the government will use the
information to issue identity cards which will be
known as AADHAR CARD.
Akhil Mittal, Anish Bhart, Sanjoy Sahoo, Tapan K
Giri, 2011 in their study suggested that Aadhar Card
serves as a unique identity for person consisting of
which person’s finger print and retina scan. All over
the country it can be used to locate a person.
Gupta & Dhyani, 2013 in its study found that e- Voting model has been incorporated with AADHAR
CARD or Unique Identification (UID) card data base
using cloud. By doing so the ratio of polling will
increase and the process will be more authentic.
Sekhon, 2013 described that Age was determined
from the village panchayat office or with the help of
documents like birth certificate/ration
card/passport/aadhaar card.
Kale & E, 2014 told that the increase in the e- transaction needed accurate and fast user
identification and authentication. For ATM banking
systems an embedded fingerprint biometric
authentication is proposed by the author.
Kumari, 2014 states that Pradhanmantri Jan dhan
scheme will cover the poor and underprivileged.
Malpure et al., 2014 explained that Government of
India initiative Aadhaar card has served a great
purpose. It can be used as a valid document for
preparing other documents.
Roy, 2014 in its study found that the need for security
is increasing day-by-day and to meet this Aadhaar
Card has played an important role by resolving many
issues.
Velapure et al., 2015 in its study found that the
individuality with registration via aadhar number and
face recognition can provide tough security for the
secret information about vote.
