Abstract
India is vast country and very much
dependent on the traditional ways of
agriculture. Due to the ever expanding and
growing demands of the population there
have been changes in not only the agriculture
techniques but also in the industrial set up of
the country. As a result of which we find that
huge units are established within all parts of
country. This is done to meet out the
requirements of the 2nd largest population of
the world. With the pollution to all the
natural resources and the inordinate
activities of the people, the climate met with
drastic changes all over the country.
Although its effect is felt all over but
agriculture is that sector, which is affected
the most. As 58.4%i
of our total population is
directly dependent on the Agriculture and
this sector is contributing one fifth of the total
GDPii of the country along with that 10 % of
the export of the country comes from this
sectoriii, this becomes our utmost important
and imperative area to be considered. The
problem becomes very severe when we find
lot of upheaval here with the climate. There
are different aspects of the climate over
which we do not have any control but we can
eventually participate to make it contented.
The agriculture has given importance during
early years of the five year plans now it again
requires lot of concerted effects make it
sustainable. When we study carefully, we find
that if we move selectively to the traditional
way of farming with little mixing of the
technological advancements this problem
can be solved. There are instances in state of
Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat
where farmers have adopted techniques
useful to them with perfect blend of modern
means resulting into good agriculture yields
without climate assistance. Along with this
there is need of implementation of
sustainable techniques to be made familiar to
different part of the country which is being
taught in various agricultural Universities.
This can be done by necessary changes to

existing syllabus of these universities. Here
we also have to make changes to the existing
methods adopted in farming to combat the
ever changing climatic moods.

INTRODUCTION:
Climate is the condition of the air, water, soil,
and flora and fauna at one location or area.
India is a huge land which is having varied
climate at different places. Climate is a blend
of the various factors like temperature,
weather, soil, humidity etc. It is a common
phenomenon that climate has to change. The
flexibility of the climate is there because of
the change in the sun rays coming to Earth.
Records have shown that in past also climate
has a tendency to change. It is more of the
natural occurrence. At the same time it is to
find out that climate change is an aspect
related with the development of the countries.
The threat of this climate change is due to
reason of the development tactics adopted by
the countries, which are developed, and those
which are in row of being developed. When
in the process of the development the
countries are taking the risk with the naturally
present resources we find that climate has to
change. This to assert that, it is an inevitable
process which no one can stop from
happening. With the development it becomes
necessary that there has to be utilization of
the available resources, with which the affect
on the climate is indispensable. There must
be development and growth and every one of
us has to pay for it. This may affect our
environment and climate adversely which we
have to bear. Today the sort of the climate
change we are talking is nothing but the effect
of the development policies adopted by the
different state government/s. Although much
has been result of the natural phenomenon
also, as this is an ever growing process.
Agriculture is a major sector which is paying
a large amount of revenue in India. A large
portion of the population is directly or
indirectly dependent on the agriculture.
Climate is directly affecting this sector and
that too adversely. That is to say one fifth of
the total GDP is coming from this sector only.
In India agriculture is given due attention and
thrust during initial five years plans.
Gradually population increased and at the
same time the pressure amplified on
government for the development. This led to
taking up of the agricultural land on one hand
and likewise it also hampered the climate and

weather of the country. Hence in the era of
the late sixties and early eighties it become a
thing of major concern that where are we
heading, as our lands are delimited and the
climate has also not supported the same.
India being feeder of the second largest
population of the world has to think many
ways to protect its people from the condition
of starving and dying. Changing climatic
conditions have posed a great threat to all of
us. As a result of which farmers started
adopting methods which are more dependent
on the fertilizers that again has resulted into
the barrenness of the land. Agriculture is thus
affected the most and the out come could be
seen with the price of several commodities
rising to sky, as well as on the daily routine
of people. Hence it becomes imperative to
protect and preserve the same. Agriculture is
a matter of concern for the various reasons,
as this is the main means of livelihood for the
major portion of the country, giving large
portion of revenue and likewise it is also
paving way for the industrialization and
corporatization in the country. With the
distortions in the climate this part has also
being disturbed. This has resulted into scarce
rainfall and the depletion of the ground water.
Along with the lack of precipitation in the
weather is a natural outcome. Indian climate
is not only affecting its own population but at
the same time whole peninsula is being
affected. Lets find out ways which have
actually responsible for the distortions of the
Indian climate.
FACTORS WHICH MAKE CLIMATE
OF INDIA NEBULOUS:
There are certain factors at hand which have
made agriculture in India very cumbersome
and also make it hazy. This is not because of
one or two reasons but a lot of them are
actually responsible for that. First of all the
problem of deforestation which has taken the
excuse of the industrial development is
responsible for this. At some phase the
deforestation is required as we find that to
establish the industrial units the land is must.
Finding out possibility for a huge population
to get an abode also required that there must
be enough land. As an outcome of all this
requirements we find that forests have to be
cleaned up. But the adverse effect of this is
the change in the climatic conditions of that
place. There are examples in India of the
States like Gujarat and Rajasthan that have
converted into futile land because of mass
deforestation for sake of industrialization.
