Abstract
The National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020 is a landmark policy initiative taken by the Government of India to transform the education system in the country. The NEP 2020 is the first comprehensive policy on education in India in over three decades and aims to provide an inclusive, equitable and holistic education to all learners.
The NEP 2020 envisages significant changes in the education system, including the restructuring of school and higher education, increased focus on research and innovation, introduction of vocational education, and strengthening of teacher training and development. The policy also aims to promote the use of technology in education and enhance the quality of education at all levels.
While the NEP 2020 presents significant opportunities for the education sector in India, it also faces numerous challenges. Some of the key challenges include the need for massive investment in infrastructure, the effective implementation of the policy at the ground level, and the need to bridge the existing gaps in the education system, particularly with respect to access and quality.
This paper will explore the challenges and opportunities presented by the National Education Policy 2020 and examine the strategies that can be adopted to effectively implement the policy and realize its objectives.
