Abstract
This paper looks at the character of the Nigerian state in oil business. Oil has become a more dependable and reliable source of income to the Nigeria economy over the last six decades. The Niger Delta region is the belly that bears the oil. Any effort to disrupt oil activities in the Niger Delta region by anybody or group of people under whatever name or guise attracts full and coordinated resistance from the Nigerian state by the use of state power especially through militarization.
