Abstract
HIV stands for human immune deficiency virus that causes AIDS (Acquired immune deficiency syndrome). It can be transmitted through contaminated blood and from infected mother to child. There is no cure for it. It primarily attacks men and women in their economically productive years when they provide the major labour force. India is estimated to have the second largest population of population with HIV/AIDS next to South Africa.
