Abstract
As part of the Great Silk Road transport strategy, Central Asia is seen as a link between China and South Asia. This fact gave impetus to the Central Asian republics for the development of their railways. In order to maintain the position of a leading player, the Republic of Uzbekistan needs to develop its railway system at a faster pace in order to provide the shortest path for economic cooperation between China and South Asia, while constant modernization and strengthening of the capacity of operated railways is required.
