Abstract
This study aims to examine the service offered by Indian Railways at platforms of north Central Railway zone. Railways are the backbone of India because of its low cost and pleasant journeys. Considering the massive population relying for the most part on this mode of travelling and transportation, there is need to be a deep study for the development in railway services. It is essential for the railway authorities to understand concerning the opinion of the passengers relating to the services offered to them so as to form future policies and provision, based mostly upon the opinion of the passengers, their satisfaction level is set. Indian Railways is performing satisfactory but few areas are needed to be focused for better development such as providing enquiry facilities at stations, Provision of ticketing machines, water vending machines, platform shelters at stations, pay and use toilets, effective lighting good retiring rooms with modern furniture, coach indication board, signage, safety and security. The study concludes that providing better quality of services are vital important for the growth and development of Indian Railways.
