Abstract
In this study, an attempt has been made to study the relationship between Teaching competency and different components of media literacy of secondary grade teachers, in Trivandrum District of Kerala, India. The Teaching Competency Scale for English Language Teacher (TCSELT) constructed and standardized by Mahalakshmi N (2014) Media Literacy Questionnaire constructed and standardized by Mahalakshmi N (2014) were used collect the data from the sample of 500 secondary grade teachers, working in Trivandrum District of Kerala, India. The survey method has been followed and the Cluster sampling technique was used in administration of the research tools. The result of the analysis reveals that there is a positive and significant relationship between teaching competency and media literacy of secondary grade teachers. And also it was found that there exist positive and significant relationship between teaching competency and the components of media literacy namely media utility, media knowledge and media productivity.
