Abstract

The Mughals, despite a short period of rule for a century only, had left permanent legacy in the socio-economic and cultural life of Orissa although their contribution in the field of polity was not lasting as they failed to give a system of polity to the state that could replace the earlier ones or resist later developments. The socio-religious and cultural process which integrated Hindus and Muslims then and thereafter, had, however, a profound and harmonious effect.
