Abstract
The Chernobyl catastrophe in 1986, Three Mile Island Accident or the Fukushima disaster in Japan- these incidents have rekindled the debate over nuclear power as a clean source of energy for the future. This paper seeks to examine these debates which revolve round the nuclear energy aspect in India. The domestic debate has mainly been about the generation of electricity from the nuclear fuel cycle. This debate is further extended to include the Indo- US nuclear deal and the pros and cons surrounding it.
