Abstract
Aravalli hill ranges are endowed with vast natural resources and abundant medicinal plant resources. Tribes and other communities of people who inhabit these regions depend on natural resources for their food, shelter, and for treating various diseases. The use of medicinal plant resources is practised since Vedic era. The traditional medicine practice plays a predominant role in the evolution of human culture because the medicinal plants have been used in the treatment of numerous diseases including epidemics. A systematic review of literature and web search was done to summarize various medicinal plants in the traditional practice by the natives of Aravalli region. There is a requisite to gather data about these medicinal plants as secondary metabolites derived from the wild plant species have high therapeutic value.
