Abstract
A country’s social and economic development significantly depends upon the participation rates of its women because they constitute around 50 percent of its human resources (NIPCCD, 2010). Not only that, women’s participation in the workforce as compared to men is also a key determinant of their social status (Mammen, 2000). Women’s employment is crucial for raising their livelihood pattern and well-being. In this study an attempt has been made to study the trend of workforce participation among the Rabha and Bodo women workers in Goalpara district of Assam.
