Abstract
Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a condition that is defined as the presence of a pathogenic organism in the urinary system and causes infection which leads to discomfort and pain during urination. The best method for screening urinary tract infection is urine culture. This study was carried out to know the causative organism and culture and sensitivity pattern of UTI infection and to determine the appropriate antimicrobial therapy in response to urine culture results. A total of 150 samples of midstream urine were collected from patients attended in Oxford hospital Jalandhar, urine culture test is done for both OPD and Indore patient. Out of 150 samples, 90 of them were positive culture with a percentage of 60%. Escherichia coli is the single most organism with a percentage of 46.7% followed by Pseudomonas and Klebsiella were the second and third most common organisms in number with a percentage of 26.6% and 16.6%respectively.
