Abstract

Ginger is commonly used as home based remedy which consists of two important phytoconstituents, gingerol and shogaol. Many potential pharmacological activities like anti-oxidant activity, anti- inflammatory, anti- microbial, anti- cancerous, anti-bacterial and anti- analgesics activity are reported. However, bioavailability and stability are major limitation of the gingerol. Different types of drug delivery approaches are utilized to overcome these issues viz. transdermal, nano transdermal drug delivery, gel, nano particles, phytosome loaded drug delivery. Overall, this review focuses on the translational work on this bioactive molecule from nutraceutical to pharmaceutical.
