Abstract
The problem of development of Africa seems to be recurrent in academic research. Most often, it is analyzed from the standpoint of underdevelopment. Underdevelopment in this sense is understood to be factors that that have retarded the development of Africa following the pangs of colonization. Unfortunately, what is termed underdevelopment is actually a product of internal factors and the African belief system. One of such beliefs is the African way of telling time. We shall undertake a philosophical view of the African conception of time in order to understand how it affects development in Africa. We shall therefore recommend a reconsideration of attitudes to time by the Africans to bring about a sustainable continental development.
